Mark Jacobs
Director of Public Service and Safety
The Director of Public
Safety and Service for the city of Wellston is Mark Jacobs.
Mayor Hayburn chose Mr. Jacobs because of "his knowledge
of the city, its people, its problems, and his ability to communicate
with the public."
Jacobs, 55, is a lifelong
resident of Wellston and is a graduate of Wellston High School,
Class of 1970. He attended both Rio Grande College and Ohio
University.
In 1974, he became a patrolman
for the Wellston Police Department and was later promoted to
Sergeant. In 1991, he tested for and received the position of
Chief of Police.
He is a lifetime member
of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and a 1993 graduate
of the Police Executive Leadership College. After 28 years of
service, he retired from the department in September of 2001.
He has been married to his wife
Diane, an employee of General Mills in Wellston, for 27 years
and they are the parents of two daughters, Angela Vickers and
Shelly Jacobs. They have four grandchildren and reside on West
Broadway in Wellston.
